About the Artist

I believe that mosaic art is a powerful metaphor for life itself—how disparate elements can come together to create something greater than the sum of their parts.

My Story

My journey into the world of mosaic art began over fifteen years ago during a transformative trip to Ravenna, Italy. Standing before the Byzantine mosaics that have adorned the city's basilicas for centuries, I experienced a profound connection to this ancient art form. The way light played across thousands of individual tesserae, creating images that had survived for over 1,500 years, sparked something within me that I couldn't ignore.

Born and raised in coastal New England, I had always been drawn to the intersection of art and nature. After completing my formal education in Fine Arts at the Rhode Island School of Design, I found myself experimenting with various mediums, yet nothing quite captured my imagination like the mosaic techniques I encountered in Italy.

I returned to Italy to study under master mosaicist Marco Santi in Florence, where I spent three years honing my craft and developing my own artistic voice. This apprenticeship taught me not only the technical skills of cutting and setting tesserae but also the patience and vision required to transform fragments into cohesive wholes.

Upon returning to the United States, I established my studio in a converted textile mill, where the industrial history of the space provides a fitting backdrop for my work with stone, glass, and ceramic. Here, surrounded by materials collected from around the world, I create pieces that bridge traditional mosaic techniques with contemporary design sensibilities.

I welcome the opportunity to create a custom piece for your space or discuss potential collaborations.
